The Most Frequently Asked Question…

Its the most common question I get asked. How is it that you came to have the handle or nickname of Wondernerd. This is generally followed by aren’t you insulted, however that question has diminished in the last couple of years.

How did I become the Wondernerd.

A family friend started calling me the Wondernerd in 1994 because of my love of technology and as a way to poke fun at me.

I chose not to let this title get to me and wear it as a badge of honor. Since that time its stuck. For the next several years he called me the Wondernerd. Others in the community where I grew up also started to pick up on this and its become very prevalent for me to be known as Wondernerd.

From what I have found researching on the Internet I’m the first person to be titled the Wondernerd. All others that have come after me and are generally not representative of what a Wondernerd actually is.

In college, I used my handle for many different things. The most notable was for my screen name at the K-State Gamers Board LAN Parties.

When I worked as a child care specialist for the Salina YMCA I’d tell the kids I’m the Wondernerd! The kids would tell me that you can’t say that, that’s a bad word. I’d then explain to them its not a bad word to me. It describes me and who I am.

Anymore you can find lots of Wondernerd’s on the internet. No one else can come close to being a nerd like me.

Is this an insult to me?
No, not at all. I’m a nerd and if you are around me enough you will find yourself in either awe and wonder or you will find yourself wondering. In either case you will say the title fits.
